Young jazz musicians respond to a great swing groove, easily played and with a catchy melody that they can grab hold of with both hands. Kickin' Back fits the bill while the keyboard player, most effectively played on an electronic keyboard, is featured on a bluesy shuffle with a harmonic twist. A suggested solo for keyboard is included along with chord changes. With lots of sectional dialogue throughout, this is a highly effective vehicle for teaching beginning groups the important swing/shuffle style. It's also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations!
