Put it in the Esky
Jazz Ensemble Level 1.5
This one has proved very popular and probably not necessarily due to my writing prowess but mostly down to the intrigue caused by the term 'Esky'. For the 'non-Aussie' readers, an esky is basically one of those box like drink coolers you'd take on a picnic or throw the drinks and ice in at a BBQ.
So the groove for this is a bit laid back, a bit funky and...yes... a bit cool. It's fun for the younger improvisers to solo over and quick to get going for the developing rhythm section. As I always try to do, there's also some featured melody for the lower horns too - so a bit of action all round!
