I wrote this piece when I was running a very elementary band at Carey Grammar Junior School. These were kids who had played their instrument for 3 months and I wanted a concert item that wasn't from their band method.

As always I love to give the percussion something to enjoy and hence the clock ticking down on the temple block (or granite/wood blocks) for this one.

This work for very easy concert band creates an exciting atmosphere of a spy thriller where time is ticking down on being able to save the day. Each part requires just a 5 note range while clarinets and trumpets also get to experience using a simple trill for atmospheric effect. Temple block and closed hi-hat parts are essential to setting the scene while the suspended cymbal part played optionally on hand crash cymbals will enhance the impact if the abilities of your your percussionist allow for it.
